Ever wondered what gluten looks like?
I imagined it was something with horns, a pointy tail and sharp teeth (kind of how it feels when it gets into my stomach). I was wrong.
Here's a photo for you - it looks like stretchy chewing-gum.
To demonstrate what gluten looks like: combine 100g of flour with 75ml water. Knead the dough into a ball. Wrap the dough in cheesecloth and rinse under water - this removes the starch and other substances in the flour. What's left is gluten.
