One of the scariest things you can do as a person with food allergies, is to dine out.
Over the years, I've been inadvertently 'glutened' a number of times. This is a particularly unlovely experience, involving much pain and toilet paper use. In case you need reminding, even safe-seeming food like sushi can be an issue ...
I've become hyper-vigilant about where I eat and have managed (touch wood), not to be poisoned in a number of years.
If you've got food allergies, it doesn't mean you have to miss out on a good feed. Sure, you have to be more careful, but unless you have super severe allergies, you can usually find somewhere safe to eat.
With that in mind, I've whipped up an infograph to help you get started.
Enjoy the infograph, and if you have any tips and techniques you'd like to share, feel free to leave a comment here, or post them on my Facebook page
View a bigger version of the infograph here.
Something I didn't add to the infograph, is to trust your instincts. If something tells you that the wait staff aren't taking you seriously, walk away. It's better to miss out on a good meal than to face the ouchies later.
