Blog posts about IBS (and my good friend low FODMAPs)
IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) is a nasty little beasty with symptoms that include bloating, diarrhea and/or constipation, cramping, and abdominal pain. The exact cause of IBS is unknown (frustrating or what?!) However, we do know some of the things that trigger IBS symptoms – these include stress, food intolerances, hormones, or other illnesses.
For many people, IBS symptoms can be reduced and/or eliminated by following a low FODMAPs diet. There are also some medications that can assist. Think you might have IBS? Pop in to your doctor’s office and ask for a referral to a gastroenterologist – they really know their stuff!
